
Today, the Community Labor Environmental Action Network, (CLEAN) Carwash Campaign, applauds the efforts of the City of Santa Monica to protect some of the most vulnerable workers in their city. The City Attorney of Santa Monica sent a clear message to business owners who exploit their employees and fail to follow wage and hour laws – these are serious crimes and they will be prosecuted.
As network of labor and community groups devoted to cleaning up the injustice that is prevalent in the carwash industry, it is important for city agencies to take a firm stand and enforce workplace rights at a time when Californians continue to witness horrendous acts of wage theft from carwash workers and other immigrant workers.
